We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, and Anatomic Pathology Services located in central Auckland.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We have a permanent position for a Trainee in Pre-Analytical Medical Laboratory Technology. This is a role within the Specimen Reception Team offering the opportunity to gain valuable training within laboratory practice. This training and experience will lead to the registration with the Medical Council of NZ and recognition as a Pre-Analytical Medical Laboratory Technician. A strong desire to work through the formal training program, provided by the organization, is highly desired, as sitting for an exam is required. You will be working in all areas of the laboratory including Data Entry, the main Histology laboratory, Dissection and Administration to assist in various tasks.
Rostered shift work is an integral part of these roles. Shifts can be 24/7, working 40 hours per week.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will have meticulous attention to detail, ability to follow instructions and procedures, analytical skills, time management, excellent written and oral communication, and strong data entry aptitude.
