Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a strategic project-based role, the Wellington Schools Partnership Manager, to sit within the Tumu Whakauru - Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Students portfolio on a fixed-term, full-time contract until February 2026. This role will be responsible for maintaining existing relationships with secondary schools and developing new initiatives that support partnerships with Wellington schools.
Key responsibilities:
  • Project manage and deliver customised school engagement programmes that increase the University’s brand awareness in the wider Wellington market.
  • Provide advice to identify opportunities and influence priority setting in the area of secondary-tertiary transitions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance the recruitment potential of key partnership programmes (e.g. Vic Start).
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive internal and external relationships with key stakeholders, especially ones which will enhance the University’s student recruitment capabilities.

Key requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience at a senior level in student recruitment, marketing or business development and broader areas of education, preferably in the tertiary system.
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience in project management, implementation and evaluation.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • High-level communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven commitment to the value of education, equal opportunities and to the personal and academic development of students.
  • Extensive experience in analysis and report writing.
