Our client in the energy sector is seeking experienced and visionary leaders to join its team as Managing Director/CEO and Executive Directors (EDs) to provide Executive and Strategic Leadership for their operations in Nigeria.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of Nigeria’s electricity grid and ensure a reliable, sustainable, and efficient power supply for millions of Nigerians.
About the Role:
As a key member of the executive team, you will be responsible for overseeing the real-time operation of the Nigerian electricity grid. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in system operations, grid management, and power system engineering.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the real-time operation and control of the Nigerian electricity grid, ensuring adherence to the Grid Code, with a focus on maintaining the balance between generation and load while operating within safe limits.

• Develop and implement operational strategies that enhance the reliability and stability of the grid in strict compliance with the Grid Code.

• Monitor and analyse grid performance data, taking proactive measures to address potential issues, in alignment with the Grid Code requirements.

• Ensure the grid operates with high reliability and stability, as mandated by the Grid Code, aiming to minimize the risk of outages or blackouts.

• Develop and implement contingency plans for emergency situations, including grid disturbances, equipment failures, and natural disasters, in accordance with the provisions of the Grid Code.

• Ensure that all grid operations comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards set by the regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.

• A Master’s degree or professional certification in power system planning and operations, registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), or a related certification.

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in power system operations, grid management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.

• In-depth knowledge of power systems, grid operations, and electricity market dynamics.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to lead large technical teams.
