About the Job
- The General Manager (GM) for a construction site is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the construction process, from planning and budgeting to execution and completion.
- The GM ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills to manage a multidisciplinary team and ensure the successful delivery of construction projects.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Conduct regular meetings with the project team to review progress, address challenges, and ensure that goals are being met.
- Prepare and manage the project budget, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures where necessary.
- Ensure that all construction activities adhere to established schedules and are completed within budget.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficient project execution.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, menitor, and manage on-site construction teams, including project managers, supervisors, and laborers.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure that all construction work meets the highest standards of quality and adheres to relevant codes and regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address any issues that may compromise quality or safety.
- Implement quality assurance processes and ensure that all work is completed according to specifications.
- identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget
- 10 years of experience in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role in construction.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project management.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and building codes.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
