Our client in the energy sector is seeking experienced and visionary leaders to join its team as Managing Director/CEO to provide Executive and Strategic Leadership for their operations in Nigeria.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of Nigeria’s electricity grid and ensure a reliable, sustainable, and efficient power supply for millions of Nigerians.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Managing Director provides visionary leadership, strategic guidance, and operational oversight to the organization, ensuring alignment with mission, goals, and stakeholder expectations. The role involves working closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Team to set clear objectives, fostering a culture of excellence and driving performance to achieve organisational success The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to corporate governance, personal integrity and top quartile performance.
About the Role:
As the Managing Director/CEO, you will be at the helm of affairs of the entity which will be a national effort to enhance the performance and reliability of Nigeria’s power grid system. You will provide strategic leadership, guideing the organisation through complex challenges and opportunities in the energy sector. Your role will involve overseeing the operational management of the entity, driving the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and ensuring the organisation meets and is in compliance with all its regulatory and operational objectives.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic planning and execution of the organisation’s mission to stabilise and improve Nigeria’s electricity grid.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organisation.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and private sector partners, to enhance the efficiency and reliability of Nigeria’s power system.
- Drive the integration of renewable energy sources and modern technologies into the grid.
- Manage financial performance, ensuring the sustainable allocation of resources to meet corporate goals.
- Represent the organisation in high-level discussions and negotiations with industry stakeholders.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Law/Management, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or an advanced professional qualification is highly desirable.
- At least 20 years of experience in the energy sector, with a significant portion in a proven senior management or executive role.
- Proven track record of leadership and strategic management in a complex, high-stakes environment.
- Deep understanding of Nigeria’s power sector, including regulatory frameworks and operational challenges.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in overseeing large budgets and driving cost-efficiency.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
