ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This position is based in Maiduguri, Nigeria and will be reporting to the Nutritionist.
At this level, job holders are responsible for the completion of a range of specialized and/or standardized processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines and practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and may allocate tasks to other support staff. They work under minimum supervision, perform basic analyses and compile reports to support information consistency and smooth implementation of programmes/projects.

To perform specialized and/or standardized policy and program-related processes and activities to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

1. Perform specialized and/or standardized processes and activities within the specific technical area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
2. Provide project management and/or general office support following established targets and WFP’s policies and procedures.
3. Within the specific area of responsibility, compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, program status, performance) in order to support operational decision-making.
4. Perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. food security and vulnerability assessments) following corporate standards and guidelines.
5. Work and exchange information with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
6. Support communication and activities with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions.
7. Act as a point of contact for resolution of general operational queries requesting assistance where necessary.
8. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
OTHER POST REQUIREMENTS:
1. Engage in regular monitoring and supervision of WFP nutrition programme implementation sites
providing feedback to improve service delivery that meets WFP standards and requirements.
2. Support the organization and facilitation of capacity building programmes for WFP staff and partners
on subjects related to nutrition programme implementation.
3. Support the implementation of the nutrition programmes, which includes supporting implementation
and monitoring of all nutrition programmes activities.
4. Provide support to specific and defined nutrition projects and activities, ensuring a coordinated
approach with wider programmes/projects that comply with WFP standards and procedures.
5. Track and analyze nutrition data and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on
nutrition activities, including use of WFP corporate reporting tools, to enable informed operational
decision making and consistency of (internal and external) information.
6. Work and exchange information with internal WFP Nigeria counterparts to support effective
collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing nutrition activities.
7. Liaise with WFP nutrition partners (internal and external) to monitor ongoing projects, ensuring
effective collaboration, timeliness, and efficiency, and highlight potential risks to project delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics,
Food Science/Technology, Nursing, and other related disciplines/functional area is desirable.

Experience: 5 Years related job experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Has facilitated communication with technical teams (i.e., nutrition, VAM, etc.).
  • Has contributed to implementation of program.
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
  • Demonstrate understanding of preventive and curative nutrition programmes and linkage with other sectoral programmes.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English language. Oral communication in Hausa or Kanuri languages is desirable.
