The World Food Programme (WFP) has been present in Pakistan since 1968 with the focus of work
evolving from providing humanitarian assistance to positioning itself as a partner of choice for
supporting the Government’s development priorities. Under the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2023-2027
WFP continues to support national development priorities by complementing government efforts to
improve food and nutrition security while also playing an integral role in emergency preparedness and
humanitarian response. As evidence is an important component of WFP’s work and accountability, the
country office is regularly engaged in multiple survey data collection activities. With this in mind, WFP
Pakistan is planning to hire an expert in survey design and data analysis to lead analysis of existing
research activities while also building capacity of other WFP staff in design and analysis.
Under the supervision of the Head of Programme, the Consultant will be responsible for strengthening
the overall food security analysis, reporting and internal analytical capacity for Pakistan CO.

1. Primary Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee all aspects of primary data collection, including
sampling, questionnaire design, and data collection using MODA. Manage and analyze data using
SPSS, ensuring accurate data visualization and reporting tailored to various audiences.
2. m VAM Strategy Development and Implementation: Develop a comprehensive strategy for m VAM in
Pakistan CO, prioritizing near-real-time situation monitoring, market analysis, and commodity
movement mapping. Collaborate with other UN agencies to expand m VAM usage and effectiveness.
3. Real-Time Market Monitoring Enhancement: Strengthen real-time market monitoring and reporting
systems, particularly for early warning purposes. Collaborate with the VAM team to assess existing
market data, identify gaps, and develop strategies to fill them, including through m VAM price
monitoring or alternative channels. Enhance the timeliness and relevance of market monitor reports.
4. Focused Research Design and Implementation: Collaborate with the program team to design and
execute targeted research activities, including studies on intrahousehold food access, food taboos,
household-level food security and nutrition relationships, and the impact of livelihood programs on
incomes and women's empowerment.
5. Capacity Strengthening: Develop and implement capacity-strengthening initiatives for the team in all
the aforementioned areas, providing training, mentorship, and resources to enhance skills and
knowledge.
6. Report preparation and presentation of findings using a variety of tools and approaches.
Education: Advanced University degree or First level University degree with additional 2 years of
experience in Economics, Food Security, Statistics, Data Science, Public
Health/Nutrition, Geography, or other related field.
Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant postgraduate professional level work experience in
research, survey design and implementation, data analysis and reporting, etc. including
at least two (2) years of strong professional experience in food and nutrition security
analysis. UN experience is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Expert in analyzing primary data using software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
- Experience working with WFP or other UN agencies in food and nutrition security.
