Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Import Operations Specialist to join our freight forwarding team in Karachi. The successful candidate will oversee and manage all aspects of the import operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods, compliance with customs regulations, and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:

• Documentation and Compliance:
• Prepare, verify, and process all necessary import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
• Ensure all import activities comply with local and international customs regulations, trade laws, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all import transactions.
• Customs Clearance:
• Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate the efficient clearance of goods.
• Submit required documentation to customs authorities and resolve any issues that arise during the clearance process.
• Monitor the status of shipments through the customs process to ensure timely release and delivery.
• Shipment Coordination:
• Liaise with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines to schedule and track import shipments.
• Ensure all shipment details are accurately logged and tracked from origin to destination.
• Manage and resolve any issues related to shipment delays, damages, or discrepancies.
• Client Communication:
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on shipment status, delays, and any other pertinent information.
• Address and resolve client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
• Foster strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
• Cost Management:
• Monitor and manage import-related costs, including freight charges, customs duties, taxes, and other fees.
• Negotiate rates with carriers and service providers to ensure cost-effective shipping solutions.
• Analyze cost data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Problem Solving:
• Identify and resolve operational issues related to import shipments.
• Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to improve overall import processes and efficiency.
• Regulatory Updates:
• Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, trade laws, and industry best practices.
• Ensure the company’s import activities adapt to any regulatory changes.
• Provide training and updates to team members on relevant regulatory changes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in import operations within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
• In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, import documentation, and trade compliance.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using logistics and shipment tracking software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
