Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The primary role of the Officer, Field Communications, is to support the Country Communication team in developing communications materials that highlight International Medical Corps’ achievements. The candidate must have the ability to work closely with different teams at the field level and at the national level.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visiting field locations on a regular basis with program teams and developing a rapport with program beneficiaries to gather content for success and case stories in the local language and/or English.
  • Carrying out field visits to capture high-quality photographs and video footage of program interventions.
  • Filling out consent forms and photo submission forms to accompany the videos and photos captured, ensuring that those whose images we are capturing give informed consent (verbally or in writing), and providing clear file names and captions.
  • Archiving the content—including interviews, transcripts, photos, videos and other relevant materials— in an organized manner.
  • Attending program activities at the field level, working with the program team to document them and contributing to the monthly newsletter.
  • Assist field teams in organizing activities around and/or recognition of humanitarian holidays or other days of recognition, as well as workshops and meetings. Document them for contribution to the newsletter.
  • Accompany missions to field areas.
  • Assist in public outreach and awareness initiatives, including media relations and outreach, cultivating relationships with reporters and pitching stories, working closely with country and field teams.
  • In coordination with the country’s Officer, Communications (or other Communications staff), lead and organize in awareness-raising and advocacy events in the field areas.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism with majors in photography and videography.
  • 3+ years’ experience in corporate communications in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
  • Strong photography and videography skills are required.
  • Ability to work successfully and effectively as part of a team.
  • Solid computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with the design and production process.
  • Prior experience working with NGOs as a photographer in the humanitarian or development field
