Job Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining an organization's IT infrastructure, systems, and networks to ensure they operate efficiently and securely. They play a crucial role in providing technical support to end-users and maintaining the integrity of IT assets.
Responsibilities:
System Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, including data servers, blade servers, workstations, IPsec, SSL VPNs and other network devices. Ensure that all systems are up-to-date with the latest patches and security updates. Administering virtualization using Hyper-V and ESXi.
User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including account setup, password resets, and access permissions. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and ensure optimal performance.
Network Management: Manage and monitor the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and Forti Gate firewalls. Overseeing and optimizing our VOIP technology. Screen network traffic and plan for network capacity upgrades as the organization's needs grow.
Data Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data. Test and verify data backups regularly to ensure data integrity. Develop and implement error reporting systems.
Security: Implement and enforce security policies and practices to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational security standards.
Software and License Management: Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with software agreements. Evaluate and recommend software and hardware upgrades as needed.
Documentation: Maintain documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures for reference and training purposes.
Hardware Inventory: Keep track of hardware assets, perform periodic inventory checks, and manage equipment procurement.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with network equipment vendors and service providers, including procurement, contracts, and troubleshooting assistance.
Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duties to address network emergencies and outages outside of regular business hours.
Qualifications:
1- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
2- Proven experience for as an IT Manager, Network Engineer or in a similar role.
3- Strong knowledge of operating systems and network protocols.
4- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V and ESXi).
5- Proficiency in hardware and software troubleshooting.
6- Understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
7- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
8- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Comp TIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.
