The Vessel Maintenance Officer’s function is to maintain the safety, reliability, and efficient operation of the vessel’s main engine through overhaul and repair to prevent breakdowns and delays. The incumbent plays a crucial role in the smooth function of the vessel’s engine.

• Ensuring the maintenance of the vessel’s main engine is done according to safety guidelines.
• Gather the necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the maintenance.
• Complete all the required PPE for the task and ensure to follow the maintenance safety protocols and procedures.
• Review engine documents, manual technical specifications and guide, vessel maintenance history and recurring issues for specific maintenance tasks.
• Conduct assessment on main engine /Aux.gen Follow the recommended shutdown procedure prior to the PMS, to be reported to Supervisor.
• Conduct visual check and maintenance of fluid, lubrication, cooling system, fuel system, exhaust system, electrical and control system, and components-specific maintenance of the engine.
• Attend during engine testing, final testing and record all engine parameters either anchorage or sea trial.
• Oversee the Perform Preventive Maintenance as per engine running hours/presented by superintendent work scope and spare parts list

Qualifications:

• Candidates must possess at least Technical Diploma related to Vessel, Maritime or Mechanical courses.
• At least 5 years experience and above of vessel systems (engine and generator) overhauling and maintenance.
• Experience and knowledge in overhauling of generators
• Analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
• Organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Works well under pressure
• Willing to travel from time to time
• Willing to work in Raxabago, Tondo, Manila
