The Nurse Supervisor oversees the nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to hospital policies and DOH regulations. He/She manages personnel, coordinate clinical activities, monitor patient outcomes, and maintain safety standards.
Key responsibilities:
Supervision of Nursing Staff
  • Oversee the performance of nurses within the assigned shift or unit.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to meet patient care needs, balancing workloads.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and evaluation of staff performance to enhance professional development.
  • Manage staff schedules, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and labor laws regarding work hours and breaks.
  • Handle grievances or conflicts between team members and mediate disputes effectively.
Patient Care Oversight
  • Ensure nursing services are delivered according to the hospital’s protocols and DOH standards of care.
  • Monitor patient care plans, assessing the quality of care provided and ensuring that safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Conduct patient rounds to ensure quality care and timely interventions when necessary.
  • Participate in patient case reviews and interdisciplinary team meetings to address patient care needs.
Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, Joint Commission standards, and other healthcare accreditation guidelines.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to assess the quality of nursing care and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing practices, healthcare trends, and new DOH regulations.
  • Prepare reports on nursing services, including incident reports, patient outcomes, and staffing issues.
Training and Education
  • Identify training needs and facilitate continuing education for nursing staff.
  • Implement orientation programs for new hires and assist with their integration into the team.
  • Ensure all staff maintain current licenses and certifications as per DOH and Philippine Nursing Law requirements.
Policy Implementation and Development
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure that the unit adheres to infection control practices, patient safety protocols, and hospital policies.
  • Actively participate in hospital committees to contribute to policy development and quality improvement initiatives.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance
  • Participate in risk management processes by identifying potential risks, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and staff performance.
  • Ensure that clinical documentation and patient records are accurately maintained.
Inventory and Resource Management
  • Monitor the inventory of medical supplies, equipment, and medications in the unit.
  • Coordinate with procurement for the timely acquisition of necessary materials while managing costs effectively.
Collaboration with Other Departments
  • Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and hospital administration to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Foster good communication and teamwork among the nursing staff and other departments.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a CHED-accredited nursing school.
  • Complete the mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units required for the renewal of the PRC license.
  • Must be a licensed nurse in good standing with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy as per DOH guidelines.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably with experience in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Experience in managing a team of nurses, working in critical care, emergency care, or similar high-stakes environments is highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of nursing principles, DOH regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
  • A commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different healthcare professionals and hospital management.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Php30,000.00 - Php35,000.00 per month
