About the Role
Responsible for develop and implement the QAS Cargo Security Plan ensuring that the QAS Cargo operation is compliant with security legislation governing the transportation of cargo and mail throughout the QR network and where applicable, customer airline routes. The Cargo Security Officer will also be responsible for the continuous improvement in areas such as Access Control, Employee Security Awareness, Investigations, Audits, Anti Pilferage initiatives and teamwork.
Responsibilities

• Interpret, develop and manage the work flow's/Processes for security directives and legislative requirements for the transportation of cargo and mail on the QR/OA networks.
• Conduct investigations into theft, pilferage, security breaches, and employee related infractions and prepare reports for internal and external review. Knowledge of Interview techniques and statement interpretation an advantage.
• Responsible for the compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements governing the business to include but not limited to: Preparation of work flows and work instructions to adopt best practices, implementation of audit systems to ensure processes are stable, effective communication both verbal and written to ensure understanding within the workforce.
• Initiate necessary measures within the business to prevent theft/pilferage, damage and the unlawful interference of shipments.
• Develop a culture of trust through effective communication with internal staff, customers, management and external business partners i.e. MOI, Customs etc. Foster relationships to ensure maximum cooperation and understanding.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the QAS Team, External stakeholders and Customers to ensure the QAS Security department is viewed as a valued source of information.
• Ability to respond to security related incidents and make sound decisions which balance the need for security and the needs of the business. Must have the ability to influence others through professional and persuasive leadership skills.
• Adapt to changing priorities based on operation needs or at the direction of leadership.
• Understands and promotes the operational need to meet and exceed where applicable all Security driven KPl's. Monitors the performance and adjusts as needed to ensure that the goals are attainable. Ensures that supervisor staff and security staff are given clear and concise directives to achieve excellence in all that we do.
• Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed b the Head of the Department

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• 5 years related experience required.
• Command of English language
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Planning, organizing and analytical skills
• Extreme attention to detail and time management
• Self-starter, able to succeed in a dynamic work environment.
• Strong Leadership skills.
• Excellent Communication skills written and verbal.
• Willingness to do hands-on work within a team environment.
• Ability to energize and inspire a team to take on tasks while relishing the challenge
• Ability to make tough calls even when faced with minimal information to evaluate
• Ability to execute and with a skill to put decisions into actions and push a team forward to ensure completion.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.

Preferred

• Bilingual Arabic and English.
