RPG AS/400 Programmer

- About our open position:
- We are looking for an experienced RPG AS/400 Programmer to join our dynamic team responsible for maintaining and integrating a global Financial System application.
- Developed on the AS/400 platform, this system is crucial for our operations across multiple countries, ensuring seamless financial operations, compliance, and integrations with external systems like banks and tax authorities.
- You will play a key role in developing new features and providing high-level support, working with a team of skilled professionals using cutting-edge technology within the AS/400 ecosystem.
- A typical day might include the following:
- Collaborating with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for new developments or enhancements to the Financial System application.
- Drafting detailed functional and technical specifications based on business requirements.
- Writing, testing, and debugging RPG ILE Free Form, RPG, CL, and SQL code to develop new features or fix issues.
- Conducting unit testing and assisting with user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Providing 2nd and 3rd level support, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, and system optimizations.
- Integrating the Financial System application with external systems like banks and tax authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Using RDI (Rational Developer for i) as your development environment to manage and streamline your development tasks.
- Working closely with your team members, participating in code reviews, and sharing knowledge to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Technical Proficiency: You have deep experience with AS/400, i Series, RPG ILE Free Form, RPG, CL, CL ILE, and DB2/SQL. You’re comfortable working with QUERY/400, DDS, and the RDI development environment.
- Problem-Solving: You are adept at troubleshooting complex issues, providing effective 2nd and 3rd-level support, and ensuring quick resolution of bugs.
- Full-Cycle Development: You can manage the entire development lifecycle from analysis and specification drafting to coding, testing, and delivery.
- Attention to Detail: You produce high-quality code and documentation, ensuring that your developments are efficient, maintainable, and fully meet business requirements.
- Collaboration and Communication: You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating smooth project execution and a clear understanding of objectives.
