Job Purpose

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to render an assurance service to the Department.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate Advance Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) majoring in Auditing and/or Financial Accounting; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Internal Control, Governance or similar environment.

Recommendation

Supervisory experience in Auditing, Accounting or similar environment.

Key Performance Areas

Provide Assurance Services; Management of irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure and investigations; Report to key stakeholders on the financial governance and compliance environment; Co-ordination of internal and external auditors; Policy formulation, drafting of internal control policy and training.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Report writing; Communication; Interpersonal relations; Flexibility;Teamwork; Accuracy; Aptitude of figures; Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, Power Point etc); Communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Remuneration

R 444 036 per annum (Salary level 9)
Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do a practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
