Software Engineer in Training (24 Month Contract)

De Beers Technology has operations in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group. We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the De Beers Diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance. We provide specialized diamond processing and recovery technology for the De Beers Group Exploration and Mining Operations. We are the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.
The Company has an excellent record in successful project delivery which with over 140 projects delivered in the last 22 years focused on the establishment and development of a fleet of sampling and mining ships and all associated equipment. Job Description
-Please note this role is a 24 month Contract
This role reports into the Technical Services Unit in the Technology Development and Engineering department.
As a Graduate: Software Engineer, you will develop new technical software systems, enhance and maintain current technical software systems to ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency according to the business needs. The nature of the work involves innovating and problem solving, and the role involves a high degree of individual contribution and good application at both a practical as well as theorical level. Travel to Namibia offshore installations for commissioning and support of software systems will be required.
This is an exciting opportunity for graduates who want to have a smarter future within mining. This role will be offered as a two-year graduate programme within De Beers Marine, based in Cape Town. Qualifications

- Any of the following: BSc Computer Science (Hon) or Computer Science Degree with majors in Software Engineering Subjects
- Completed your degree within the last 2 years.
- Have no more than two years of relevant work experience.
