Corporate Affairs - Public Affairs Lead

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
  • Direct reporting to Head of Korea Corporate Affairs
  • Working closely with country Leadership Teams, Medical, Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, Finance team, and regional/global functional partners

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop and implement Pharma/Vaccine Public Affairs strategy and roadmap that directly supports our Play to Win Strategy
  • Shape the favorable policy and external environment to influence policy decision markers for the benefit of vaccine/pharma business and modernization of healthcare ecosystem to be aligned with product portfolio including vaccine and pharma
  • Enhance Sanofi’s industry leadership position among key external stakeholders, while accelerating the patient’s better access to innovative solutions

Execute strategic and impactful external engagement with national, regional, local government, patient groups, business associations, grassroot communities to get in-depth policy interpretation and shape the policy landscape in South Korea to support the mid to long term of growth of Sanofi pharma/vaccine business
  • Keep abreast of the external environment and understand how Sanofi is positioned and perceived externally and the actions we need to take to support our Play to Win strategy
  • Create and execute policy shaping public affairs activities through strategic external stakeholder engagement for new launches and growth assets
  • Position Sanofi as an industry leader in the country, policy and environment shaping for a better ecosystem to support sustainable growth of key products
  • Develop the development of a live stakeholder map of priority Government and policy influencers in the country and lead the implementation of a contact program to develop trusted relationships with these individuals
  • Works across the business to identify the cross-cutting policy priorities for the country’s business and ensure alignment of external messaging and public affairs activity
  • Seek to secure improvements to access regulation, as well as new routes to market that are in line with business needs
  • Collaborate external engagement with relevant country’s patient organisations to support country’s business priorities and to ensure alignment with global activities

Management of Resources
  • Accurately raises Purchase Requisitions with information provided by requestor and ensures such information is correct
  • Updates systems in a timely way to reflect the current status of purchase orders and any deliveries of goods and services
  • Attends to invoice system requests and queries quickly and efficiently
Ethical Leadership
  • Takes personal accountability to use personal experience and knowledge, as well as the training and tools provided by Sanofi, to maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all ethics and governance relevant to the role (including the Industry Code of Practice, Sanofi Policies and Procedures and any relevant legal requirements); and demonstrates personal leadership in applying these to all work undertaken
  • Escalates any decisions, or seeks the support of colleagues or management, if personal knowledge and understanding is not at the level required to carry out any part of the role
Environmental and Safety Leadership
  • Cares for his/her own safety and wellbeing and the safety of others, and co-operates with the company to ensure a safe place of work. Employees are therefore expected to:
    • Support and conform to Company safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment
    • Report any accident, incident or near miss, whether it be of personal injury or property damage.
    • Assist in the investigation of accidents with the objective of introducing measures to prevent recurrence.
    • Thoroughly read all safety documentation issued by the Company and comply with its requirements. Escalate any doubts or uncertainties to their supervisor and/or manager.
    • Ensure the overview and management of arrangements for the health, safety and wellbeing of their team, maintaining compliance with legislative requirements and with the Company’s policies and annual PASS (Health and Safety Plan) documents.
    • Ensure that all new employees undertake HSE Induction Training
    • Ensure that employees receive sufficient information, instruction and training to carry out work safely.
    • Where an employee is required to drive a motor vehicle for their role, ensure that the appropriate professional driving skills training is completed and reviewed.
    • Regularly include health, safety and wellbeing matters on the agenda of departmental meetings.
    • Investigate, report and record, with the assistance of the HSE Manager, all accidents and near misses, however slight.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • + 12-15 year experience of successfully executing a pharma and vaccine Public Affairs and government affairs responsibilities to deliver towards the company strategy
  • Broad based knowledge of the Sanofi pharma/vaccine portfolio, strategy, company and services
  • Comprehensive understanding of the country’s legislation and codes of practice
  • A robust knowledge of Public Affairs field including National Assembly engagement, local government, and media engagement, etc.
  • A robust knowledge of the country’s political and policy environment
  • Productive network with key media, government, policy and industry stakeholders and suppliers
  • Demonstrated ability to influence relationships and leverage knowledge internally across a matrix structure to drive collaboration and optimise opportunities to achieve shared goals
  • Success in stakeholder management
  • Fluent both in Korean and English
