About the Job:
The Horizon Lab support EIT UM partners identify and access non-EIT funding opportunities for research and innovation activities in the field of mobility e.g. Horizon Europe, Digital Europe. The Horizon Lab programme also manages EIT UM participation in Horizon Europe and other European open innovation projects.
The Climate-neutrality officer will report to the Climate Neutrality Manager for day-to-day line management. They will focus primarily on the proposal development and delivery of externally awarded projects, mainly under the programmes Horizon Europe and Digital Europe. As EIT Urban Mobility continues to attract external funding, the team ensures all contractual obligations of awards are met with quality content on time and on budget.
This position is for an experienced professional who will focus primarily on activities that support the Cities Mission to deliver 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 including Net Zero Cities and other projects. The position will involve actions related to city-to-city knowledge transfer and learning exchanges, replication and scale-up of (mobility) solutions, providing mobility expertise to project activities and cities, communication of outcomes and exploitation of research results. In addition to that, They will have an active role within the Horizon Lab team in sharing learnings and insights from the Horizon Europe projects in implementation.
Main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Manage deliverables, milestones and reporting.
- Preparation and facilitation of workshops.
- Best practice identification and mapping, and general desktop research.
- Presentation and speaking capacity.
- Relationship building and networking.
- Preparation of proposals under different programmes including Horizon Europe and Digital Europe.
- Stakeholder management, and community maintenance.
- External relations and communications.
- Assessment of city needs and gap analysis of mobility solutions.
- Development of business strategies/programmes for mobility solutions for cities.
- Preparation of policy recommendations and briefs, mainly for city administrations and policy makers.
What you will bring along the way:
An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission.
Must-have:
- Masters Degree in Urban Studies/Geography/Architecture, environmental engineer, economist/business, social sciences, urban transport/planning or similar [1].
- Written and spoken English (C1).
- At least 5 years of working experience.
- At least 3 years EU project management (mainly Horizon Europe and H2020) and experience with EU funding mechanisms and schemes.
- Understanding of climate change and impact on cities and urban society.
- Understanding of leveraging project outcomes to inform business strategies.
- Knowledge of SDGs and EU Horizon Europe Missions.

Previous experience in some of the following climate and mobility fields: electrification, public transport, innovation, sustainable urban planning and digital technologies.
- Experience in proposal writing (preferably Horizon Europe).
- Work to timelines and financial reporting.
- Versatile in teamwork on all organisational levels and experience working in a matrix-type organisation.
- Facilitation and advocacy skills. At ease in interaction on senior management level.
Nice-to-have:
- Fluency in any additional EU languages.
- A European and/or City Perspective (e.g. city network or local administration).
- Portfolio management experience.

Kindly note that this is a permanent and full-time position, and it is based in Barcelona.
Possibility to work from home 2 days a week.
