You will be the design authority for all Primary (Electromechanical) engineering activities (both in-house and outsourced) related to diverse High Voltage Substations, Power Quality and Green Hydrogen projects in the Operating Unit in Spain. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and project team, you will drive excellence - ensuring that Primary engineering activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead, supervise and execute/coordinate all Primary (Electromechanical) scope and sub-suppliers to secure the integrity, completeness and correct function of the substation system.
    • Support and optimization of conceptual designs, physical implementations of equipment. Takes responsibility for functional arrangement of systems and components.
    • Electromechanical and electrodynamic calculations, carrying out and review of electromechanical studies (steel structure, insulation coordination, earthing grid, lightning protection...) for the feasibility and definition of projects at basic and detailed engineering level
    • Preparation and review of technical specifications and validation of equipment
    • Ensure 3D design/models. Coordination of interferences and its resolution. Ensure clash free design. Civil interference monitoring vs. electromechanical discipline
    • Coordination with Control and Protection systems (single-line diagrams, schematics, cabling, etc.)
    • Review and supervise the electromechanical activity performed by external engineering subcontractors. Management of subcontractor and project engineering progress, including technical reviews issued by suppliers and/or manufacturers
  • Take responsibility for all substation Primary design, calculation, and documentation (Base design, Detail Design, “As Built”, etc. up to project close-out)
  • Making technical recommendations in the Primary design, engineering and execution phases of customer projects to ensure all actions are completed according to process requirements and standards, while identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Supporting the Project Team with claims related to changes in the project Primary scope, including assessing cost and time impacts, as well as risk quantifications.
  • Assist in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects (layouts, Bo Qs...) for Sales support.
  • Creating and delivering the Primary scope-specific work planning, resource requirements, proposals, engineering estimates, and risk and opportunity analysis.
  • Resolving complex technical issues both remotely and on domestic and international customer sites (occasional travels, both national/international).
  • Provide technical support for installation activities.
  • Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing continued dialogue and excellent service at all stages of the project.
  • Collaborating and networking with engineering colleagues, sharing best practice across different projects and disciplines, developing your leadership, coordination and communication skills with the support of the local and international teams.

Your background
  • Mandatory:
    • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field
    • Broad knowledge in substation Primary engineering and execution
    • BIM methodology
    • 2D (Autocad) and 3D (Revit) design tools. Autodesk Construction Cloud environment
    • Languages: Spanish (native / C2), English (B2)
    • Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
    • A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
    • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills to quickly resolve project related activities and issues.
  • The following will be considered positively:
    • Knowledge of Power Systems, Grid Studies, Renewable Energy and Transmission Systems.
    • Knowledge of control systems (SLD, schematics and cabling).
