About this opportunity:
Seize the opportunity to lead and develop a patent unit supporting Ericsson’s R&D centres primarily in Sweden and contributing to create, maintain and commercialize relevant parts of Ericsson’s patent portfolio. The Patent Unit Lund (PU-Lund) belongs to Patent Creation Management (PCM) which is part of the global IPR & Licensing organization in Ericsson. There are currently 12 patent units in PCM worldwide.

Today, Ericsson owns the ICT industry's most valuable portfolio of patents. The global patent portfolio includes over 60.000 granted patens and is widely licensed and applicable to all major companies in the areas of consumer electronics, cloud, networks and beyond.


What you will do:
As the head of the PU-Lund, you will lead a team of 17 patent professionals and paralegals in Lund, Sweden. Main tasks of PU-Lund are

• providing IPR support for the Ericsson R&D centres primarily in Sweden within a broad array of technologies such as integrated RF circuits, extended reality (XR), 3GPP Radio, and Wi Fi,
• stimulating inventions as well as filing and prosecution of patent applications in relevant technical areas,
• creating claim charts,
• providing support for European and national litigations and global licensing activities, and
• engaging in projects and activities related to the global PCM organization
• thereby contributing to create, maintain, and commercialize valuable patent portfolios.

You will work close with stakeholders across IPR & Licensing (IPR&L) and in particular engage in a cross-functional team.


Your responsibilities will include:

• leading a multi-national and multi-cultural team of patent professionals and paralegals,
• coordinating the work in line with the patent unit tasks and priorities,
• managing resources in PU-Lund, including recruiting and developing of talents,
• being in charge for achieving the patent unit performance and development targets,
• undertake some task related to patent creation such invention handling, prosecution and/or portfolio management and
• drive projects and activities related to the global PCM organization.

You will report to the Head of Patent Creation Area 1 and collaborate closely with the other patent unit managers and representatives from licensing, assertion, and portfolio management.


The skills you bring:

• A relevant academic background in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Physics, or equivalent.
• You are qualified patent attorney, preferably European patent attorney.
• Detailed knowledge of patents and the patent creation process with at least 5 years of experience.
• Strong leadership qualities, stakeholder management, outstanding communication and networking skills, and experience in a multi-national and multi-cultural team engagement, also remotely. Preferably with experience in mentoring and guiding others to foster a collaborative and innovative culture.
• You are eager to drive for results and try out new ways of working.
