Global Procurement Director Medical and Bought in Finished Goods (BIFG)

About the Role

The Global Procurement Director Medical and Bought in Finished Goods (BIFG) is accountable for the global spend of raw materials and BIFG for the Medical business, as well as the global spend for BIFG for the full Essity business. The role reports to the Vice President Global Procurement for Essity, and as a member of the Global Procurement Lead team you will be expected to actively contribute to the overall Procurement success.

This role involves overseeing three sub-teams of global/regional procurement managers as well as tactical/operational buyers. Additionally, a limited number of global procurement managers will report directly to you. In total the teams consist of 50+ employees globally. You will together with your organisation and your stakeholders develop and execute on global procurement strategies in line with Essity’s business needs.

In this position, you will be partnering with stakeholders within manufacturing, planning, innovation and sales on behalf of Global Procurement – as well as our suppliers which are vital to our business. Your ability to understand stakeholder needs and offer innovative solutions and perspectives will be crucial in delivering our services in a timely manner.

What You Will Do

Lead People

• Contribute actively to Procurement Leadership Team to develop the function in line with business expectations
  
• Lead Global/Regional Category Managers
  
• Coach the team and develop teams’ leadership and functional capabilities
  
• Set up and follow up on performance and development plans
  

Strategic Category Procurement

• Ensure development of category strategies including the development of category cards
  
• Excellent understanding of market insights and dynamics for the relevant categories
  
• Actively supporting the business by new value creation and innovation opportunities
  
• Active involvement in major supplier relationships
  

Contract Management

• Accountable for complete contract lifecycle management to secure compliance with policies and standards
  
• Ensure contract accuracy and validity, to enable efficient operational contract management in Procurement Operations
  

Supplier Selection & Performance Management

• Secure close cooperation with SQM team and other disciplines to manage selection and onboarding of new suppliers and compliance to internal and external standards
  
• Accountable for sufficient supplier portfolio management to ensure competitiveness within the category
  
• Establish a common supplier performance understanding together with Global Brand Innovation and Sustainability and Business Units
  

Business Partnering

• Partnering with Global Brand Innovation & Sustainability and Business Unit stakeholders
  

Who You Are

• Master’s degree or equivalent within a relevant field (Business, Economics, Supply Chain or similar)
  
• Preferably 10+ years working experience with 5+ years of leadership experience
  
• Experience of Medical business is an advantage
  

• Proven ability to lead people and create a collaborative work environment driven by ambitious goals as well as high team spirit
  
• Proven ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders across functions
  
• Ability to work in a complex, matrix, international organization
  

• Analytical mindset and results oriented
  
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Fluent in English
  
  

Location
This position is preferably based in Gothenburg – Sweden or Hamburg – Germany to benefit from closeness to stakeholders, however can be based in any of our European offices depending on candidate.
