The Ban Laboratory at ETH Zurich, Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics, Department of Biology, Switzerland, is hiring an experimental biochemist with a Master’s or a Ph D degree to support lab operations.

Job description

The research will be conducted in an excellent scientific environment at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biophysics investigating the mechanisms of protein synthesis and regulation of translation in human cells. The candidate will work closely with Ph D students and postdocs of the Ban laboratory to support their research projects. Responsibilities include carrying out molecular biology and biochemical experiments, working with human cell cultures and preparing samples for electron microscopic experiments. The position is available immediately with a start date by mutual agreement.

Profile

The successful candidate is expected to have

a Ph D or a Master’s degree in biology or biochemistry
a successful publication record
a strong motivation for experimental research
Experience with RNA biochemistry, membrane protein biochemistry or ribosome biochemistry is a plus. The candidate will have opportunity to learn modern methods in structural biology and biophysics.
