Project Assistant, Liminality Consortium

We are seeking a dynamic, highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent task- and time-management skills to join our team as a Project Assistant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting research initiatives and project management. Beyond traditional qualifications, we encourage applicants who understand and practice feminist and queer values and demonstrate familiarity and respectful engagement with queer communities and displaced population. Function: Part-time Project Assistant, Liminality Consortium
Timeframe: 1 January 2025 (6-12 months contract, with possibility of extension.)
Hours: Part time, flexible working arrangement.
Location: Remote working.

Background / Programme Description:
The Liminality Consortium comprises academic institutions, civil society, grassroots organizations, international bodies, UN agencies, and other humanitarian actors, specializing in gender-responsive research in forced migration with a focus and interest in public health, particularly sexual and reproductive health. Committed to an intersectional feminist approach, through our research findings, we aspire to influence policy and practice, fuel activism, promote gender equality and health equity, and contribute to the pursuit of social justice. Our collaborative research aims to uncover the structural challenges faced by forcibly displaced individuals and generate nuanced insights into the gendered experiences, working across Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, and Switzerland.

The Project Assistant will be working closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) in supporting the consortium in managing the administrative duties related to the project and the management and coordination of the consortium and related activities. The Project Assistant will have regular communication and report to the PI, work closely with other team members and liaise with other research partners and advisory group members.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Draft reports, summaries, and other project-related documentation.
  • Organize meetings and take meeting notes and disseminate in a timely manner.
  • Manage and organize project files, ensuring compliance with data management plan.
  • Support the drafting of country reports and policy briefs.
  • Optionally engage in data collection, analysis, and publication writing based on time availability.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure research activities adhere to IRB regulations and grant policies.
  • Coordinate the proper data management, including filling, scanning, and storage of data and all documents and material according to the data management plan.
  • Assist the PI in developing training sessions, visit schedules, and research plan execution.
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external events and meetings essential for the research consortium, including coordinating the logistics and communications.
  • Coordinate public events, including technical and policy dialogues, by preparing concept notes, agendas, participant lists, and background documents.
  • Maintain an updated website with the latest publications, events, and news.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of website functions.
  • Ensure effective communication of research findings, events and research outputs


Qualifications and Skills
  • Master's degree in a relevant field: International Development, Migration, Gender, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Self-driven and reliable, with excellent task- and time- management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate initiative, proactiveness, and the ability to contribute ideas for improving project efficiency, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to handle unexpected challenges.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to details and a high level of accuracy.
  • Efficient time management skills to balance multiple tasks effectively and ensure timely delivery of activities and deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal professional communication skills in English. Knowledge of other languages (French and/or German) highly desirable.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external to the consortium.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic research environment.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work with diverse communities, including an understanding of gender-related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and organize data securely. Knowledge and familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis is an advantage.
  • Understanding of feminist and queer values and principles, in research methodologies and practice.
  • Passionate to support research and advocacy efforts for gender, queer and social justice.


Experiences:
  • Proven experience in research project administration and coordination.
  • Previous experience working with queer and displaced communities is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with website operations and content management is highly desirable.
  • Experience in effective and successful organization of events and research meetings.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating events, workshops, or conferences related to research projects.
  • Demonstrate familiarity and respectful engagement with queer communities and displaced population.
