Business Development Senior Manager - Lipton

Overview:
Pepsi Lipton is a global joint venture organization created between Pepsi Co and Unilever in 1994 - a ~$3.8 billion System Revenue business with a strong track record for growth and a portfolio of the 3 biggest iced tea brands in the world, Lipton, Pure Leaf, and Brisk. It’s the market leader within North America and Europe and has a presence in over 50 markets across the globe.

Ready-to-drink Tea (RTDT) is a significant growth opportunity globally, accounting for <1% of the LRB market and yet offering distinctive, on-trend refreshment beverage experiences. Building on the power of tea and its inherent goodness, Pepsi Lipton’s mission is to Replenish People & Nature via an ambitious net zero goal and tasty products that are better-for-you vs. other popular Liquid Refreshment Beverages (LRB) such as Carbonated Soft Drinks.

The joint venture is an autonomous entity and has its own board of directors (50% UL and 50% PEP) and a dedicated global leadership team. The JV offers an exciting blend of Unilever and Pepsi Co employees who have been seconded from our Parent Companies for stints that average 3 to 4 years. We have 5 regional groups operating across North America; Europe; Latin America; AMESA (Africa, Middle East, and South Asia); and APAC (North Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia/ New Zealand) where we are continuously pioneering new ground.

Main Purpose
The role of the Business Development Sr. Manager is to drive JV growth agenda for Thailand, Vietnam and Laos by focusing on unlocking key barriers while engaging with key bottlers to deliver top and bottom line targets. This role will be also looking after new markets and white spaces. Thus, key priority is to transform our portfolio to become “Stronger” and unleash long-term sustainable growth.
This role will also support APAC GM with the Strategic initiatives and AOP planning across the PLI APAC region
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and align with Bottlers across Thailand, Vietnam and Laos on detailed marketing activity plans to deliver the agreed strategies, including:
  • Pull activities (advertising, consumer promos, sampling and activation)
  • Distribution targets and customer promotions
  • Channel strategies
  • Lead the execution of the annual marketing plans, including:
  • Executing sampling, consumer promotion and activation campaigns
  • Developing POP material required to suit local channels and customers
  • Conducting joint business planning with key Away From Home customers
  • Support the Bottlers GTM team in the execution of the AOP and delivery of key brand & financial goals
  • Monitor performance against AOP KPIs and financial goals, and conduct regular reviews with Bottlers and Pepsi Lipton stakeholders, including preparing required reports, presentations and forecasts, and recommending necessary steps to dynamically manage plans and budgets to deliver the AOP goals
  • Manage local implementation of operational projects ( innovation, packaging changes etc), and co-ordinate with Pepsi Lipton Technical and Operational resources as required.
  • Manage the Away from Home Agenda for Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and new markets
  • Support with Strategic initiatives and AOP preparation across the region
  • Manage the 2 bottler resources
  • Look after white spaces in the region
Qualifications:
Person Profile

Business Skills
  • Strong strategic thinker, with business acumen and discipline to focus on the right priorities.
  • Deep rooted understanding of beverage industry, total system & bottler economics
  • Experienced in managing P&L
  • Significant depth on Brand Management (particularly NCB), Consumer Insights and Channel marketing with breadth in Customer marketing, Finance and Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to turn marketing strategies into winning operational plans
  • Proven ability to manage a matrix organization (cross-functional / cross-border) with multiple levels of alignment within the Pepsi Co system, Unilever system and with the joint venture Board of Directors
  • Excellent communication, alignment and influencing skills
