Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with experience in providing high-quality nursing care within a GP surgery setting. This role offers a variety of responsibilities, including conducting cervical smear tests, administering immunisations, and providing wound care and dressings.
Key Responsibilities
- Cervical Smear Tests: Perform routine cervical screening (smears) in accordance with national guidelines, ensuring patient comfort and delivering accurate results.
- Immunisations: Administer vaccinations to patients of all ages, including childhood immunisations, flu vaccines, and travel vaccinations, while following best practices for patient safety.
- Wound Care and Dressings: Assess and manage wounds, including cleaning, dressing, and monitoring healing progress. Provide advice on wound care to patients and caregivers.
- Chronic Disease Management: Support the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and hypertension through regular monitoring and patient education.
- Health Promotion: Provide advice and education on healthy living, disease prevention, and lifestyle choices. Participate in health promotion activities and clinics.
- Patient Care: Deliver high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the needs of individual patients. Support patients with their physical and emotional well-being.
- Clinical Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the GP surgery's electronic health record system (e.g., EMIS, System One).
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Compliance: Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and protocols, including infection control, confidentiality, and safeguarding.
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
- Proven experience in a primary care or GP surgery setting.
- Competence in performing cervical smear tests, administering immunisations, and providing wound care and dressings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (e.g., EMIS, System One) is desirable.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £36,926.00-£38,340.00 per year
