  • Possess a combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation, and is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field.
Minimum Qualification [GS-11]
  • Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes: 1) Participating in investigations and analyses to determine the impact of various land and water development projects upon species-recovery, hatchery related and water development projects upon the fish and/or wildlife resources; 2) Assisting with species status summaries and assessments, conservation plans, environmental assessments, or other scientific documents related to management of endangered, threatened, or at risk species; 3) Developing and conducting analyses, site visits and studies to document pre-and post- recovery activities conditions; 4) Developing and maintaining effective working relationships and liaison with private landowners, tribes, other federal, state, and local agencies, and the public regarding habitat restoration; 5) Participating in implementation of federal environmental laws (i.e., Endangered Species Act, specifically sections 7 and 10; Clean Water Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; National Environmental Policy Act), regulations, and policies involving natural resource issues; 6) Preparing and maintaining organization for data, briefing statements, reports, correspondence, and presentations; and 7) Coordinating student, intern and volunteer activities; and 8) Assisting with preparation of Data Science related products including Data Collection, Compilation, Analyses, Databasing and workflow developments. • Possess an equivalent combination of professional experience and graduate level education beyond the second year which together equals 100% of the requirements. (When combining education with experience, first determine the total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine the experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.)
Minimum Qualification [GS-12]
  • Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes: 1) Leading investigations to determine the impact of various land and water development projects upon species-recovery, hatchery related and water development projects upon the fish and/or wildlife resources; 2) Independently preparing species status summaries and assessments, conservation plans, environmental assessments, scientific manuscripts and other scientific documents related to management of endangered, threatened, or at risk species; 3) Extensive experience working with native fish, their aquatic communities and their conservation and recovery; 4) Developing, promoting, and maintaining partnerships with, Fish and Aquatic Conservation and partners/stakeholders; (5) Leading negotiations for alternative actions when implementing federal environmental laws (i.e., Endangered Species Act, specifically sections 7 and 10; Clean Water Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act; National Environmental Policy Act), regulations, policies, and projects involving natural resource issues; 6) Leading teams with diverse partnerships including multi-agency coordination practices; and 7) Assisting with preparation of Data Science related products including Data Collection, Compilation, Analyses, Databasing and workflow developments. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name. If any required coursework is not easily recognizable on transcripts, or if you believe a portion of a particular course can be credited toward meeting an educational requirement, you must also provide a memorandum on letterhead from the institution's registrar, dean, or other appropriate official stating the percentage of the course that should be considered to meet the requirement and the equivalent number of units. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable; however, if you are selected for the position, you will be required to produce the original official transcripts.
