Your Role
As a member of Farrell Roofing’s Safety Team, you are very important to the success of our branches and our company. In this role, you will ensure the safety of our employees, act as a resource for safety related questions and concerns and play a pivotal role in the execution of our operations. Successful occupants of this role will be able to prioritize tasks and remain calm in stressful situations. Occupants of this role will also be efficient problem solvers and be good teammates. Areas of Focus and Day to Day Responsibilities
Safety: All tasks will be completed using corporate procedures and to corporate expectations.
- Complete site inspections via i Auditor as part of our corporate safety team. Coach and advise employees on existing hazards and mitigation techniques. Follow any corrective actions needed onsite to completion.
- Conduct incident and near miss investigations onsite for injuries and property damage claims. Ensure branch adherence to company incident protocol. Complete root cause analysis and report findings to the rest of the corporate safety team for review and follow-up.
- As part of corporate safety team, assist with trend analysis and continuous improvement of the program.
- Maintain a working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, State and Local safety codes, laws, and regulations.
- Investigate internal and external safety and health related complaints and ensure compliance with regulations. Coordinate with corporate safety team to provide timely response.
- Complete personal air monitoring per OSHA standards as needed or required at multiple sites including but not limited to Plattsburgh branch jobsites.
- Work with the Asbestos Coordinator to schedule asbestos training, fit tests and physicals for the Plattsburgh office.
- Provide formal annual training, informal training, and site-specific training to employees at multiple locations, including but not limited to the Plattsburgh branch. Coordinate with local union representatives to utilize union training.
- Ensure completion of New Employee Safety training at the branch level for Plattsburgh branch.
- Facilitate coordination and completion of periodic safety stand downs for fall protection safety.
- Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, job handoff meetings, and pre-job walkthrough meetings as the company safety representative for multiple locations, including but not limited to the Plattsburgh branch.
- Maintain inventory of safety equipment. Coordinate with Safety Coordinator for all safety related purchases (harnesses, lanyards, retractable lanyards, fall protection carts, ropes, rope grabs, gloves, glasses, vests, etc.) Complete required equipment inspections per manufacturer recommendations, and document utilizing corporate standard procedure.
- Ensure Job Site Safety Plan (JSSP) or Pre-Project Safety Checklist (PPSC), SDS and other required documentation is onsite for projects. Work with branch management to ensure that foremen/competent persons complete the following onsite: daily safety pictures, torch work permits, fire watch documentation, toolbox talks, scaffold inspections, daily safety inspections, and crane inspections. Ensure paperwork is stored in shared safety drive for access by all members of the safety team.
- Handle safety submittals for jobs as required for multiple locations including but not limited to the Plattsburgh branch.
- Hold the asbestos supervisor and inspector designations in New York State. Complete asbestos inspections per EPA AHERA requirements. Arrange for other hazardous sample collection such as lead, PCB, etc.
- Perform other duties related to the safety and risk management team as assigned.
- Executing disciplinary action as needed.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed processes and directives.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to use a smart phone and able to work with new apps.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- OSHA 30 Hour training and card required.
- 3-5 years’ Construction industry safety experience preferred.
- Travel is required for training, incident investigations, site inspections and company representation for meetings.
- Travel will include training, incident investigations, site inspections and company representation within a 5-hr. radius of the office, and periodic overnight travel to support other Farrell Roofing branch offices as coordinated with corporate safety.
- Remote work available periodically.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Must be eligible for employment in the United States.
$50,000-$70,000 depending upon experience.
