Description
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Construction & Maintenance Project Supervisor (CMPS) at the Pierce County Reentry Center. The position is located at Pierce County Reentry Center in Tacoma, WA. The working hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Under the direction of the Reentry Center Manager, the CMPS maintains the Reentry Center(s). This position directly manages and supervises all phases of construction, maintenance, and repair of the building grounds, plumbing, electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment to ensure the building and all items inside the facility are in good working order. This position is also responsible for overseeing the mechanical systems, boilers, hot water tanks, plumbing, refrigeration, and the HVAC systems.
The CMPS directly contributes to the agency’s mission to improve public safety by positively changing lives by keeping critical infrastructure, equipment, and security systems in functional working order which contributes to the overall safety and security of the reentry center, staff, incarcerated individuals, and the community. The position directly supports the operation with assisting residents transitioning to the community which promotes public safety by positively changing lives and providing individuals with tools and resources for targeted opportunities to successfully transition into the community.

Duties
Duties as a CMPS:
Direct and provide oversight for staff, contractors and incarcerated individuals engaged in preventative maintenance and construction projects on new and existing buildings, equipment, and furniture:
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates and projections for assigned tasks or projects
- Schedule work to be completed based upon its assigned priority
- Order sufficient required materials to accomplish assigned tasks
- Evaluates and direct the work of contractors
- Train, coach, direct, and evaluate the work of MM2 and/or contract staff at facility
- Train, coach, direct and evaluate the work of incarcerated individuals
- Completes or schedules preventative maintenance as scheduled on related equipment and vehicles.
- Performs work in installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, steam heating, distribution and water pump systems, carpentry, painting, hardware (lock device & keys), and other systems and equipment.
- Monitors potable water distribution system and wastewater systems
- Provides on-site inspection of buildings, grounds, equipment and fixtures to determine need for maintenance or repair
- Operate, maintain, or supervise maintenance of construction tools and equipment, etc.
- Order and maintain an inventory of tools and supplies needed to maintain the facility and grounds in a safe and clean manner
- Document work performed, project hours and costs
- Evaluate contractor performances
- Train incarcerated individuals on all tools and equipment as needed
- Train incarcerated individuals on safety procedures
- Order and track materials and custodian supplies
- Serves on the Safety Committee at the facility
- Prepares and maintains detailed reports, schedule maintenance and assist in developing projects at the facility
- Maintains the CCTV System and complete any repairs as needed
- Safety Representative
- Hazardous Waste Coordinator
- Completed new employee Safety Orientation and documentation
- Participate in facility inspections for audits & compliance with PREA
- Responsible for state, city/local inspections, and compliance with DOH, Safety and Fire standards
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
AND
Valid driver's license
AND
Two years of experience and completion of a recognized apprenticeship in at least two skilled trades.
OR
Four years of applicable work experience or vocational training
OR
Two years of experience as a Constructions & Maintenance Project Lead
Desired Qualifications:
Two years of experience and completion of recognized apprenticeship in at least two skilled trades
AND
Four years of applicable work experience or vocational training.
