AIANTA is excited to announce an outstanding career opportunity for the position of Education Support Specialist at the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA). As the Education Support Specialist, you will play a key role in providing essential support and coordination for AIANTA’s Education programming efforts under a new program launched in partnership with AIANTA and the United States Forest Service (USFS) to support Native Nations and communities to advance climate resilience goals through federal funding opportunities.

AIANTA works with Native Nations and communities, including Tribal Nations, Rancherias, Pueblos, Native Alaskan Villages and Native Hawaiian partnership organizations to ensure that cultural and recreational tourism perpetuates culture, builds economic opportunities, creates sustainable land use practices creating more resilient landscapes to improve lives and provide broader access to cultural practices, food practices and recreation opportunities. By focusing on cultural tourism and recreational opportunities, Native Nations and communities can thrive alongside the lands and landscapes they steward and protect.
Job Description: The Education Support Specialist collaborates closely with the Community Navigator Project Team and Education and Business Development Team to play a pivotal role in supporting AIANTA's Community Navigator programming efforts. This multifaceted position involves supporting initiatives that build capacity for increased access and sustainable participation in federal funding opportunities with a wide variety of new and existing Forest Service programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians engaged in cultural and recreational tourism programming and initiatives on and adjacent to Native lands.
Through the planning, organization, and execution of educational activities, this position’s responsibilities encompass contributing to program, curriculum, and training development and supporting the active engagement of tribes, tribal businesses, and members in AIANTA's Community Navigator project and broader training opportunities. The Education Support Specialist is instrumental in the development of training programs, including in-person workshops and online trainings/webinar/workgroups. This dynamic role also involves collaboration with various AIANTA program areas, contributing to the organization's mission achievement and playing a key part in the success of the Community Navigator Program. Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position holds an associate degree from an accredited college or university in Education, or a closely related field, coupled with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in education encompassing curriculum/training design and implementation, workshop facilitation, and a minimum of two years of experience and knowledge in navigating and securing federal funding.
The candidate should demonstrate a strong background and exhibit proficiency in Microsoft products. Flexibility in schedule to accommodate training and travel, and effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate should have a basic understanding and respect for tribal customs, traditions, values, and beliefs, along with a strong work ethic, initiative, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Salary: $55,000 - $70,000, dependent on experience. AIANTA offers a robust benefit package.
