Job Summary

The Graduate Enrollment Counselor I will serve as one of the contacts for graduate admissions inquiries. The position assists students, faculty, and staff in navigating the application and enrollment process and interfaces collaboratively across various academic departments to achieve enrollment goals and accomplish tasks reporting directly to the Executive Director of Graduate Admissions.


Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Serve as one of the contacts for graduate admissions inquiries.
  • Process documents related to graduate admissions and related graduate enrollment processes.
  • Link documents to appropriate drawers in Perceptive Content, update student accounts, and ensure efficient People Soft processes.
  • Review prospective student applications and follow up with students to verify any application issues, including discrepancies and/or missing information.
  • Work collaboratively with academic departments and other enrollment counselors to review applications and send out admissions offers.
  • Respond to prospective student and applicant inquiries across all platforms (phone, email, social media, text, CRM, etc.).
  • Counsel and advise current and prospective students on application and enrollment issues.
  • Provide support for recruiting initiatives and achievement of enrollment targets.
  • Ensure quality by providing high levels of customer service to internal and external constituents.
  • Represent the graduate school at various admissions and recruiting events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in an admissions or higher education enrollment services office.
  • Experience working in an admissions office or comparable higher education office environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Must have reliable vehicle and possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

  • Working knowledge of Perceptive Content and People Soft processes or similar database and how the accurate processing of documents drives the admissions process.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and effectively.
  • Combined patience, determination, and persistence to troubleshoot issues.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
