Hotel Reservation Specialist

We are currently looking for Full-Time experienced and talented Lead Central Reservationist to join our great team at Inns-by-the-Sea, Carmel CA. Inns-by-the-Sea manages a collection of five inns from Carmel to Half Moon Bay.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Hours: 9AM-530PM / May include Weekends & Holidays
  • Answer the telephone and greet prospective guests in a friendly manner using clear, verbal English communication. Listen to callers to understand inquiries and requests. Promptly provide accurate information regarding availability and accommodation types. Assign reservations based on guest preferences and availability.
  • Read, retrieve, communicate and verify information including confirmation number to caller. Input and retrieve data using PMS system.
  • Answer questions regarding property facilities and services, local attractions, directions, etc.
  • Know, understand, and communicate applicable deposit and guarantee policies.
  • Handle complaints in a tactful manner and offer solutions.
  • Optimize revenue by monitoring all distribution channels.
  • Perform reservation reconciliations.
  • Assist with yield management strategies (rate, arrival, length of stay, and blocks) to maximize overall hotel revenues.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned, such as cross-train for work at the Front Desk.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Hotel experience required
  • Experience with hotel-related software (PMS) and OTA extranet use required
  • Experience with Channel Management required
  • Experience with revenue management strategies and software platforms required
  • Experience with GMS platforms preferred
  • Experience with hotel-related social media and marketing platforms preferred but not necessary
  • Willingness and ability to promote a positive team member culture and core values
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Fluency in other languages beneficial
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Must have exceptional communication skills
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently
  • Must be detailed orientated and work well under pressure
  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to, communicate with, and motivate team members to sustain top performance and quality levels
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Possess strong motivational, organizational and verbal communication skills
