The Division of Forensic Sciences, Office of Information Systems and Biometrics is recruiting for an Information Systems Business Automation Specialist position. This position can be headquartered at either two following locations: Madison Crime Laboratory, located at 4626 University Avenue in Madison, WI. Milwaukee Crime Laboratory, located at 1578 South 11 th Street, Milwaukee, WI

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Information Systems and Bioinformatics Chief, this position will assist with the management of the Division of Forensic Sciences biometrics enterprise portfolio including resources, project financials, tracking, and reporting on portfolio performance while providing a real-time, comprehensive, and prioritized view of all projects to Division of Forensic Sciences (DFS) leadership.
The Biometrics Project Manager is the primary source of documentation, guidance, and metrics for the biometrics programs. The position is responsible for working with all levels of stakeholders on intake of new requests, conducting analysis on program processes, developing guidance documents, encouraging innovative scientific and technological improvements, ensuring best practices and processes are followed, capturing meaningful metrics, troubleshooting issues, biometrics and grant management, and supporting a training program for all levels of stakeholders. Day to day workload is multi-tasking in nature, self-initiated, and conducted independently.
Performance on these duties will require extensive communication and participation in joint ventures with DFS staff, state laboratories, law enforcement, a variety staff from varied Divisions within the Department of Justice, and national collaborators for oversight, research, design, and improvement of programs. Performance of these duties involves complex business and technology variables as they relate to forensic science. As such the position requires a working knowledge of crime laboratory practices and databases, federal guidelines, and statutes pertaining to grants and forensic investigative genetic genealogy.
Salary Information

The Information Systems Business Automation Specialist position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 33. The starting pay will between $40.00, and $46.00/hour. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details

The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must have training, education or experience in all of the following: Purchasing, budgeting, and metric reporting for grants. Forensic testing methods and laboratory operations. Project management methodologies, including tracking project progress and delivering outcomes. Preparing reports, presenting information, and interacting with stakeholders.
Well-qualified applicants will have met all of the minimally qualified criterion and a combination of the following: Experience managing federal and/or state grants, including compliance, grant adjustments, and application writing. Experience in an ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory. Knowledge of biometrics technologies and their forensic applications including practical experience with Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy. Experience leading complex projects and effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
