Role Summary:
The Manager Inflight Policy & Standards is responsible for executing the strategy for development, documentation and communication of all company and regulatory policy and procedures for the Inflight division at Horizon Air. As a people leader, this manager role leads and establishes priorities for the team to ensure policy and procedures are accurately documented in the manual, communicated to employees, and coordinated with training to ensure continued compliance with safety, company, and regulatory requirements. This manager owns safety as the number one priority
Key Duties:
  • Lead team and establish priorities for the development, maintenance, and distribution of the Flight Attendant Manual (FAM), ensuring manuals accurately reflect current policies and procedures, meet regulatory requirements and maintain consistency with other company manuals.
  • Make decisions related to all new/revised inflight policies and procedures based on inflight safety data including audits, observations, voluntary disclosures, employee reporting, and the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.
  • Shape culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors
  • Responsible for drafting clear, concise, and thorough policies and procedures for Flight Attendants, ensuring safety and compliance in all aspects of policy and procedure communications.
  • Develop and maintain processes to monitor the safety performance of the Inflight division.
  • Interpret federal regulations that affect the Inflight department.
  • Represent Inflight with other divisions and departments in the development and review of policy and procedures.
  • Act as division focal for Cabin Air Quality events.
  • Ensure coordination of and subsequent communication of Inflight processes, procedures, and manuals to Flight Attendants.
  • Manage the Inflight Mobile Device (IMD) program.
  • Collaborate with the Cabin Safety Manager on all safety issues.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of IATA International Operations Safety Audit (IOSA).
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:
Required
  • 5 years (combined) experience in airline operations, policies and procedures.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated experience developing policy and procedures documentation.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized, with the ability to execute on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment where flexibility is key.
  • Excel at understanding and making decisions on complex regulatory and contractual issues.
  • Ability to complete Horizon Air’s initial training/IOE, hold an FAA flight attendant certificate, and remain qualified through recurrent training. May be directed to fly as a working crew member when needed.
  • Possess and/or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports also will need any appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 and willing to serve alcohol.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred
  • 3 years of Inflight or aviation industry experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of FAA/compliance experience.

Job-Specific Leadership Expectations:

Salary Range: $69,900 - $104,800 / year Salary Details:
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
