Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will coordinate with process engineers, manufacturing plant staff, product development engineering, quality and maintenance groups to implement the most cost-effective equipment or process according to the Gates Corporation's current strategic plan. This position is located in Versailles, MO and reports directly to the site Engineering Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support to specific production departments for equipment and designated projects. This support includes project planning, support, and implementation as well as support of production improvements in the areas of quality, safety, cost, and productivity as related to equipment, processes, and systems.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
- Direct and supports equipment maintenance functions.
- Act as a technical resource on production equipment.

Help identify equipment or process gaps in manufacturing or technology implementation
where quality and/or efficiencies are lost, and work with internal teams on innovative
solutions. - Confers with Operations, Maintenance and Process/Product Development Engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Confers with vendors to determine part specifications and recommends the purchase of
equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production. - Confers with management, Process Engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Other duties may be assigned.
- Specification and acquisition of vendor purchased equipment.
- Lead efforts to drive critical machinery to ZERO MILES state.
- Support development of new equipment and processes for new product offerings.
- Collaborate in the creation of capital plans, specific capital projects and participate in strategic planning processes.
- Support the development of new and innovative products and constructions.
- Support Process Engineers in Scrap and defect reduction projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Working knowledge of automotive industry quality management standards (AIAG - APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.) and quality assurance problem solving tools (E.g. 5-Why, Cause & Effect Diagrams, DOE, 8D, etc.) is preferred or will be developed
- An effective communicator with the capability to interact with all layers of management both internal and external to the company.
- Drive, intelligence, and high expectations of getting results through self and team.
- Change management leadership capability.
- High level interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, and partner across multiple levels and locations of the company.
- Strong proficiency using common PC applications: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, MS Office, MS Share Point, MS Power Point, Inventor, Autocad
- Experience utilizing quality assurance PC Applications is a plus: Minitab, SPC Applications, etc.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
