Position Summary:
As a Part-Time Meat Apprentice, you’ll work closely with our experienced butchers to learn the ins and outs of meat preparation, customer service, and food safety. This role is perfect for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, learn a craft, and take the first step on a career path that could lead to becoming a master butcher. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Learn the Craft: Assist with cutting, trimming, and preparing various types of high-quality meat under the guidance of skilled Master Butchers.
  • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers, answer questions, and provide recommendations with a smile, ensuring a friendly and informative shopping experience.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet our high standards of freshness, quality, and presentation.
  • Safety First: Follow all health and safety guidelines to keep our work environment safe and clean.
  • Team Support: Assist with inventory management, stocking, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

Qualifications:
  • Eager to Learn: A strong desire to learn and grow in the meat preparation trade.
  • Positive Attitude: A can-do attitude and enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.
  • Communication Skills: Great communication skills and a willingness to engage with customers.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Reliability: Reliable and trustworthy with a commitment to excellence.
  • Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation.
  • Footwear Requirement: Must wear non-slip shoes for safety on the job; please note that these are not provided by the company.
Physical Requirements:
  • Strength: Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 80 pounds with ease.
  • Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skilled in both fine and gross motor tasks, essential for meat preparation.
  • Vision: Peripheral and near/far visual accuracy to ensure quality and safety.
  • Hearing: Able to hear and respond effectively to instructions and customer needs.
  • Flexibility/Mobility: Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly in a busy environment.
  • Environmental Tolerance: Comfortable working in cooler temperatures and with cleaning agents.
  • Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a variety of fresh ingredients without adverse reactions.
  • Step-Stool/Ladder Use: Confidently use step-stools and ladders as needed.
  • Physical Balance: Maintain stability while handling tasks with care.
  • Communication: Clear and effective in conveying instructions and working with the team.
  • Reaching: Capable of reaching below waist, at waist, and overhead to access and manage products and equipment.
