This ideal candidate for this position would live in Wayne, Washtenaw, Jackson, or Ingham counties in Michigan. There will be some in office training, based on the experience of the successful candidate. It is a hybrid position, offering both in person and remote work.

• A very competitive hourly wage between $24.78 - $33.14 depending on experience

• The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 5:30, with some flex
• This position will have work from home flexibility. However, candidates should be prepared to attend onsite training, in person meetings, or other necessary in-office activities as required.

Who are we looking for?

• We prefer that the ideal Mortgage Underwriter/Closer have a minimum of three years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Someone with intermediate math skills
• Someone who can register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLS)

What does a Mortgage Underwriter/Closer do?

• Review and analyze Conventional, FHA and VA mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness per compliance with credit union standards, federal and agency standards and guidelines, investor requirements, applicable state-specific and or local regulations, ordinances, etc.
• Analyze/understand all types of tax returns.
• Review appraisals to ensure that loans meet secondary market, investor, and credit union standards.
• Provide back-up assistance to the Processor with processing of mortgage loans by ordering mortgage credit reports/supplements, property appraisals, title insurance, flood certifications, property surveys, PMI certificates requesting applicable verifications and any other documentation required to close the mortgage loan in a timely fashion.
• Provide back-up assistance to the Processor and Loan Originators with scheduling closings with members and all related parties. Prepare and approve all conditions with each loan for sale on the secondary market with a selected third-party investor company.
• Prepare wire transfers for the funding of Mortgage Loans
