The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Pharmacist Supervisor, to manage operations of our in-house pharmacy unit which provides services to our Veterans Homes in King, Union Grove, and Chippewa Falls. Our Homes are 24/7/365 long-term care facilities that specialize in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. This position is headquartered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10 between Stevens Point and Appleton. Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Homes’ Division Administrator, the Pharmacist Supervisor coordinates, administers, and assists the pharmacy program for WDVA’s Veterans Homes at King, Union Grove, and Chippewa Falls. The incumbent is responsible for pharmacy clinical/therapeutic applications and ensuring high-quality effective service is provided to all residents. Responsibilities include supervising, directing and assisting with daily pharmacy operations; providing training and orientation to staff; coordinating services with the nursing care units; developing quality improvement programs; monitoring pharmacy productivity; overseeing all Medicare Part D billing, and consulting with medical staff regarding medication effects, interactions, and kinetics.

Salary Information

Starting salary will be between $145,724 and $152,194 per year ($70.06 - $73.17 per hour), depending on candidate qualifications, and the position includes an attractive employee benefits package.
The Pharmacist Supervisor is in pay schedule-pay range 50-20. For current State employees, pay on appointment will be set following the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
A 2-year Career Executive trial period may be required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will meet the following requirements:

Graduation from a recognized school of pharmacy; and
Registration, by date of hire, as a pharmacist in the state of Wisconsin; and
No Medicare/Medicaid fraud litigation or conviction

Additional required and preferred qualifications that may be assessed later in the selection process are experience:

Working as a pharmacist in a healthcare facility, preferably in a public sector healthcare setting
Providing and ensuring professional compliance with the practice of pharmacy
With therapeutic substitution writing and enforcement
Providing customer service, including communicating with non-pharmacy professionals
Supervising staff, overseeing day-to-day function, and providing guidance for improvement
Using a pharmacy dispensing system and automatic packaging systems
Integrating a medication formulary with local prescribing practices
Working within budget constraints
With Quality Assurance Process Improvement functions
