Powder Coating Supervisor

Currently, we are undergoing a major $3.7M plant overhaul with updated lighting; new equipment; new lunch room and completely renovated men's and women's locker room spaces. Our specialty Structural Steel I-Beam Racking Systems, where we are an industry leader in design and manufacturing.

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to assist in overseeing operations for our powder coating lines. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency while managing the daily powder coating production processes. This position will focus on supervising team members, troubleshooting issues on the paint lines, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the Paint Line for Issues:
Continuously observe the paint line operations to identify and address any mechanical or process-related issues that could impact productivity or quality.
  • Manage Team Effectively:
Lead and motivate the production team, ensuring proper staffing and training to meet daily production goals. Provide coaching and guidance to promote team development and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Implement Improvements and Production Optimization:
Develop and implement improvement ideas to optimize the production process, increase efficiency, and reduce downtime. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Paint Booth and Oven Maintenance:
Ensure that all equipment, including the paint booths and ovens, is regularly inspected and maintained. Coordinate with the maintenance team for timely repairs and upkeep to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated knowledge of powder coating, automated powder coating lines
· 5+ years’ experience in powder coating
· Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities
· Must be able to read and understand powder coating specifications, general assembly/ shop drawings
· 2 years’ experience with ERP utilization
· Proven experience as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing or powder coating environment.
· Strong leadership and people management skills.
· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
· Knowledge of safety and quality standards in manufacturing.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must have working knowledge of:
* Automated powder coat spray booths (GEMA and NORDSON)
* Overhead automated conveyor system
* Shot blasting operations
* Curing Oven operation Gas with IR
* Efficient Parts hanging techniques
* Proper powder spraying techniques
* Leading a team of powder coating associates
* Strong people skills.
Required Experience:
· Three or more years of Powder Coating experience in a lead role, including experience leading and improving powder coat/ paint processes, procedures, equipment, and employees.
· Familiarity with health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
· Proven lead experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
· Must be familiar will all paint applications, prepping procedures, safety protocol, and quality
· Knowledgeable of powder coating systems to include equipment, application of powder, hanging methods, shot blasting, curing ovens, and proper baking of powder
· Knowledge of quality control standards and practices specific to powder coating.
· Prior powder coating equipment maintenance experience to include cleaning nozzles, checking/replacing worn or broken components, and as needed assist in troubleshooting malfunctions
· Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
· Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word
· Technical training or certification in powder coating preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Schedule:
M-F; 6:00am - 2:00pm.

Work Environment - The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions, i.e. hot inside during the summer months; cold inside during the winter months. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
