ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and develop specified marketing and communication programs for on-going and special City-sponsored community events and activities.
Plan, create, implement, and review marketing campaigns around awareness events, special events, campaigns, changes to humanize the City, City programming and other outreach opportunities
Manage and direct activities on the City website
Ensure routine content changes and updates to website as requested
Design, write, and choose content for the site that may include pictures, graphics, articles, blogs, and other written and visual communication
Produce photo set at City events, programming, ceremonies, functions and City projects
Constantly monitor the City’s social media pages and be responsive toward questions and comments coming in from engaged citizens
Creates, updates and edits content including graphics for flyer and other special publications
Coordinates information from City departments in order to appropriately disseminate responses back to social media sites
Promotes department activities, services, and programs by determining the best way to present the message and the appropriate channels to use
Writes, edits, and issues press releases and advertising for City departments
Develops public information campaigns and community outreach initiatives pertaining to special projects
Ensure that public information activities contribute to the attainment of the City goals and objectives
Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and application and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the use of social media within the City

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

HS diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
Be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must possess thorough knowledge of computers, file management, basic photo editing and Adobe.
Knowledge of Windows operating system, Microsoft Office suite, social media and trends, and other related software, apps, and devices
Must be able to operate photo and video equipment
Ability to multi-task and work under stress
Ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to function with considerable independence and to perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and web design
Ability to write press releases, memos, and letters

JOB FUNCTION: Responsible for overseeing and producing content that satisfies the Mission of the City, through intentional, professional, truthful, and excellent messaging. This includes but not limited to the creation of videos, photos, graphics, audio recordings, print media, social media, and other forms of communication.
