• Participate in field and lab-based experiment, perform data collection and interpretation for a newly funded NSF project that studies alkalinity cycle in coastal environment under different hydrological conditions.
• Present research results at public meetings and national/international meetings.
• Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed national/international journals.
• Collaborate with other members of the lab group, and mentor undergraduate/early career graduate students in the lab.

• Doctoral degree by the time of hire in marine chemistry, chemical oceanography, or a related field.
• Experience in seawater carbonate chemistry studies, including both shipboard experience and experience working with in situ sensors (p H and p CO2).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience communicating scientific findings to a broad audience.

• Experience in sediment geochemical analysis and familiarity with sediment sulfur/sulfide analysis and data interpretation.
• Experience with numerical and statistical modeling of natural systems.
• Working knowledge in programming languages such as Mat Lab and/or R.
• Experience with project management and ability to meet project goals in a timely manner.

• May involve exposure to corrosive chemicals and heavy metals,
• Occasional extended work hours due to fieldwork
• Fieldwork can be under adverse weather conditions
