Job Summary
POSITION DETAILS: All Orientation Leaders are required to attend and participate in all training sessions throughout the year. Spring, Summer & Fall Grizzly Orientation Sessions are held April-August and November-January. All Orientation Leaders are required to work scheduled orientations and planning sessions during these months. April-August is deemed peak season and requires full participation of each Orientation Leader.
Responsibilities
- Welcome new students and their parents/families to GGC during orientation.
- Facilitate small group discussions and lead groups of new students while they complete new student tasks and learn information about being a new student at GGC, both virtually and in person.
- Be a source of information regarding degrees/programs, policies and procedures, campus services and activities, building locations, and all other aspects of student life at GGC.
- Assist academic advisors and faculty mentors during the course registration process.
- Work closely with the entire Orientation Leader team and professional staff.
- Be able to take initiative with unanticipated tasks or problems.
- Assist in the organization and preparation of orientation materials and activities as requested by New Student Connections staff to ensure the orientation program proceeds smoothly and successfully.
- Assist with other office duties as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with New Student Connections Staff.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate, degree-seeking student who has completed a minimum of 12 credit hours at GGC by date of hire and maintains 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters while working in New Student Connections.
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
- Must be in good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
- Possess the following qualities: leadership skills, team oriented spirit, positive attitude, maturity, motivation, flexibility, integrity, strong work ethic, respectful and commitment to personal development.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships in an environment with various backgrounds.
- Must have the desire to learn about all aspects of GGC to present information to others.
- Exhibit the commitment to the mission of the Office of New Student Connections and uphold the four core values that are central to GGC.
