Incumbent is embassy’s recognized expert on all aspects of special citizen services/assistance to U.S. citizens, with emphasis on those cases having a sensitive nature. Under general ACS Chief supervision, incumbent oversees the daily operation of special citizen services. Incumbent is largely independent in planning work, setting priorities, and ensuring application of relevant regulations and procedures. The incumbent oversees the handling of the most complex/unusual cases involving repatriation of injured or mentally ill U.S. citizens, shipment of remains and provisional care and custody of personal effects of deceased U.S. citizens, relatively complex property claims and the highest profile and/or unusual cases involving child abductions, neglected or abandoned minor/elder citizens, or the arrest and/or mistreatment of U.S. citizens, processing extraditions requests and letters rogatory cases require a high level of expertise, expert knowledge, independent judgment, and compassion so that Post can use its limited resources to extend the maximum protection to U.S. citizens in our consular district. The incumbent must be able to cultivate, maintain, and make use of high-level contacts in the Argentine government, private business, NGO communities, the foreign diplomatic community and among the citizen liaison volunteers. Provides technical guidance and training to FSO ACS officers as necessary.
