Communication Coordinator, Europe

KIND seeks Communications Coordinator, Europe to support KIND’s communications work throughout Europe to promote KIND as a mission-driven organization and leader in the protection of unaccompanied and separated children. The Communications Coordinator, Europe will keep apprised of KIND and its partners’ work and impact in Europe and gather multi-media content, including video, audio, and photography, and client stories for public and internal use.
Essential Functions
- Monitors KIND’s work and impact in Europe for communications opportunities. Develops and implements a communications strategy to support KIND’s work in Europe.
- Drafting and editing:
- Gathers content about KIND and its partners’ work in Europe for fact sheets, blogs, social media, and KIND’s website, and other material as needed. Review content for language accuracy, tone, and compliance with KIND’s Brand and Writing Style Guides. Gathers visual assets to illustrate KIND and our partners’ work, including photos, video, audio, and client artwork.
- Media monitoring and media relations:
- Supports media outreach, including maintaining media contacts, compiling and distributing daily news roundups featuring relevant media coverage, writing press releases, and coordinating interviews and follow up.
- Represents KIND at select meetings and events.
- Storytelling:
- Supports KIND’s robust storytelling efforts by gathering stories of the young people KIND assists, partners, and volunteers, consistent with KIND’s consent process.
- Provides communication support to the Suziry’a project team to disseminate awareness of the project and its activities as well as the development and dissemination of key resources and tools produced from this project.
- Works closely with the Europe and Communications Teams to ensure compliance with KIND’s fiscal responsibility and reporting guidelines.
- Works closely with KIND staff in Europe and Communications Teams in the United States.
- Communicates effectively with our target audiences and promote KIND’s brand throughout Europe.
- Metrics and Reporting: Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Regularly analyze metrics and prepare reports to assess performance and inform future communication efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- University degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
- Must be fluent in English. Fluency in French preferred. Knowledge of other EU languages would be a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a senior communications role.
- Working knowledge of migration issues, particularly the situation of unaccompanied and separated children.
- Passion for KIND’s mission of supporting unaccompanied and separated children and an ability to communicate this to others.
- Proven experience in journalism, communications, or content generation.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills including ability to accurately synthesize complex and sensitive material to produce content for publication.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the European media landscape.
- Strong digital and social media skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of working in a multinational/cultural environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (such as Teams, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to work collaboratively and multi-task in our KIND environment, managing numerous priorities and emerging opportunities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and communication styles.
- Commitment to prioritizing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, as well as embracing transparency and authenticity in daily work life.
- Be disciplined and nimble to ensure delivery on our core mission of access to justice and protection of children’s wellbeing and rights.

- Experience working and communicating in a remote environment.
