The Head of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) will oversee our manufacturing site’s strategic and operational aspects of environmental management, health, and safety programs. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Committee, the Head of EHS reports to the Site Head and will develop and implement comprehensive EHS strategies that comply with legal standards and promote a sustainable and safe working environment. The Head of EHS focuses all their attention on taking care of our Planet through ambitious, transformative, and innovative Sustainability initiatives while preserving our People by taking care of their Mental and Physical Health.
Key Responsibilities:

Vision and Strategy Development:

Craft and continuously refine the EHS vision and strategy in alignment with the company's overall objectives and latest trends.

Develop the EHS strategy transversally, ensuring it is co-created with the other Senior Leaders on site.

Program and Policy Implementation:

Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies, programs, and practices across the site.

Stay abreast of technological advances and legislative changes that impact EHS and adjust programs accordingly.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure all EHS activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Conduct risk assessments and design mitigation strategies to manage occupational hazards.

Incident Management and Reporting:

Lead investigations of incidents or accidents, ensuring prompt and comprehensive reporting and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare analytical reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

Represent Takeda Lessines to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.

Develop a robust external network to ensure best practices sharing.

Promote awareness and train employees and management on critical EHS issues.

Performance Measurement:

Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of EHS initiatives.

Report on EHS performance to the senior leadership, providing insights and action plans.

Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
-
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position within a manufacturing environment.
-
Must be highly conversant in EU/Belgium EHS Regulations - EU-OSHA. Must have experience with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), REACH (EU Chemicals Regulation), and HAZOP.
-
NEBOSH Certification preferred.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful EHS programs and strategies.

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence, engage, and inspire direct and indirect reports and peers.

Strategic vision coupled with a high level of pragmatism and a hands-on approach.

High engagement and motivation, driving a culture of accountability and performance - Lead by example.

Important Considerations:
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wearing protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
-
You must remove all makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
-
Work in a cold, wet environment.
-
Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours as necessary.
-
Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
