Reuters is looking for a dynamic video journalist with a creative flair and strong teamwork skills to join our Latam team based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This role requires passion for Brazilian news and culture, agility in a fast-paced environment, and a keen knowledge of camera equipment including the use of mirrorless cameras and new technologies. We are looking for someone able to produce and film digi-friendly stories with a focus on innovative storytelling and a strong understanding of news and sports coverage. The successful candidate will be a self-starter skilled in creating standout content for a diverse global audience.


About the Role
As a Visual Journalist at Reuters, you will:

• Manage daily news content and drive innovative storytelling.
• Demonstrate your enthusiasm for Brazilian news and culture to infuse stories with local flavour.
• Apply fresh ideas and proficiency in new technologies and mirrorless camera shooting to create standout video content.
• Collaborate closely with all services in the Latam bureaus and production teams in Mexico.
• Tackle stories from a diversity of viewpoints, experiences and perspectives.

About You


You are a fit for the role of Visual Journalist in Brazil if you have:

• A passion for storytelling and creative shooting.
• An excellent news judgement, with a clear editorial vision and an understanding of what makes a great and global visual story.
• Grit, the ability to think on your feet and deliver despite challenging conditions.
• Advanced mirorless camera and video editing skills, with the ability to shoot and produce basic news edits against very tight deadlines.
• An understanding of the breaking news drill; can react quickly to breaking news and can offer live cover as appropriate.
• Ability to write scripts and shot lists or show a willingness to learn this skill.
• Take an active role in daily planning for coverage.
• Willingness to work both alone and with a wider collaborative team, with the ability to travel at short notice to major international news stories, including hostile environments.
• Ability to quickly and proactively source UGC and other 3rd party content, especially for breaking news
• A passion to uphold Reuters Trust principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias
