Russell Brewing located in Surrey, BC is hiring to fill a Brewer/Research and development position. Russell Brewing has been operating as a production brewery in this location since 1995. We produce approximately 15,000HL yearly and have been consistently growing. Responsibilities and Duties

• Accurately following brewing recipes to completion on our 25HL brewhouse
• lifting of 25kgs regularly
• Work alongside our head brewer on recipe formulation and the test batch system/R&D Program to create interesting beers to be showcased in our tasting room and new seasonal/one off releases
• Brewhouse and tank CIP's, transferring of beer from FV to CV tanks
• Cleaning of work area including tank exteriors and other equipment
• Daily gravity and p H measurements of all active brews
• Yeast and fermentation management, yeast cell counts and pitching rate calculations
• Maintaining accurate records for all activities
• Lab skills are an asset
• Use chemicals in a safe manner with MSDS knowledge
• Performing sensory analysis of beer with knowledge of off flavours and defects
• Attending and helping out at industry events and conferences
• Maintaining regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

Qualifications

• Brewery experience of at 1 to 2 years is an asset but not required
• A completed degree/diploma from a recognized brewing school is an asset but not required
• Home brewing experience
• Must have a valid BC driver’s license
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and evenings
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
• Familiar with MS Office (primarily Microsoft Excel)
• Must possess good communication skills

Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience but we are willing to train the right candidates. We are not accepting applicants from out of the country. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
