Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Private Chef for a semi-formal residence in Montreal. The successful applicant will be experienced with providing both formal and semi-formal food and beverage service for the family and their guests. This position is full-time, live-out but requires the candidate to live-in while the family is away. A typical work week is Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Some flexibility outside of this schedule is required as needed.
Candidate Profile:
You are an experienced and well-rounded Private Chef who enjoys keeping a clean and organized home and driving family members, as required. You have an understanding of basic household management and food and beverage service. You have a ‘do what it takes attitude’ and have a calm and collected approach when things don't go as planned.
Primary Responsibilities:
∙Formal and semi-formal table setting, food and beverage service to Principals and guests
∙Daily cooking required; knowledge of a variety of cuisines an asset
∙Menu planning, track and keep records of menus to avoid repetition of meals
∙Organize grocery shopping and other delivery services ∙Daily driving of family members as required ∙Event planning and facilitation
∙Greeting of guests and visitors, answering telephone, and taking messages, general mail and correspondence
∙Management of household inventories and implementation of organizational strategies
∙Care of the butler pantry including china, crystal and silver
∙Ensure all household mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, equipment and fixtures are in good working order ∙Schedule and supervise trades and contractors
∙Monitor household budgets and costs for trades and vendors
∙Ensure household security protocols are followed ∙Pet care responsibilities as required
Applicant Qualities:
∙Be a self-starter with an anticipatory, service-oriented disposition
∙Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all tasks and projects assigned
∙Must possess a strong work ethic and understand invisible service
∙Must be a team player able to motivate and work with staff to ensure a positive outcome
∙Must have a sense and respect of boundaries, exercise diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality ∙A driver's license and clean driving record is required
∙Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
COVID-19 Considerations In order to maintain the health and safety of the workplace, this position will require a fully vaccinated candidate as a condition of employment. Proof of vaccination will be required by the candidate prior to their start date. Proof means documentation verifying receipt of a vaccination series approved by Health Canada. Candidates will be required to comply with all established health and safety measures, which may include screening, wearing a mask or face covering, using provided PPE, maintaining appropriate physical distancing and self-monitoring of potential COVID-19 symptoms.
