About the Role
Amii is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will work closely with the CEO and executive team to drive growth, sustainability, and strategic impact. The CFO will ensure financial strategies are aligned with our mission of leveraging AI to create a positive and lasting societal impact, while also overseeing the IT and administration departments to ensure smooth, efficient operations across the organization. This position requires a visionary leader with a proven track record in financial leadership, risk management, and operational excellence across multiple functions.
The role focuses on achieving excellence in five principal accountabilities:
- Financial Accuracy & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports, ensuring transparency and supporting decision-making.
- Capital & External Relationships Management: Cultivate relationships with financial institutions and manage capital needs to support operational growth.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Develop and maintain risk management frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Board Liaison & Reporting: Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Board of Directors, delivering actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
- People Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor the finance, IT, and administration teams to achieve high performance and foster a collaborative culture.

Required Skills / Expertise
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accuracy & Reporting:
- Oversee quarterly financial forecasting and annual budgeting, ensuring alignment with Amii’s strategic goals, long-term vision and sustainability
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of all financial reports, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timeliness.
- Implement and maintain financial systems and controls that enable reliable forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Monitor key financial metrics, providing actionable insights and interpretations to guide executive decisions.
- Collaborate with team leads to ensure budget alignment with organizational strategies and objectives.
- Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions to facilitate better service and exploring investment opportunities to optimize returns on available funds.
- Oversee the relationship with the landlord, ensuring favorable lease terms and compliance with lease agreements.
- Manage subleases, ensuring that agreements are beneficial for Amii and align with its financial and operational strategies.
- Provide strategic oversight for grant applications, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and maximizing opportunities for financial support.
- Negotiate advantageous terms with key suppliers and service providers to optimize cost-efficiency and ensure operational continuity.
- Maintain and oversee the established risk management framework, ensuring it remains effective and up-to-date with evolving financial and operational risks.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and other department leaders, to assess and update risk mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies through continuous monitoring and regular assessments.
- Review and manage contracts to identify and mitigate risks and protect the organization’s interests, working with legal counsel as necessary
- Oversee the development and implementation of IT strategies including cyber security and capacity planning
- Facilitate board & board committees governance process, ensuring compliance with corporate laws. Develops governance policies & processes and related documentation for board & board committees approval.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the executive team and the Board of Directors on financial matters.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and strategic recommendations at Board meetings.
- Provide financial insights that support the Board’s decision-making processes regarding Amii’s strategic initiatives.
- Ensure transparency and clarity in all communications with the Board, building trust and confidence in financial governance.
- Lead and mentor the finance, IT, and administration teams.
- Set clear goals and strategies for the finance, IT, and administration teams, ensuring alignment with Amii’s organizational objectives and operational needs.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between the finance, IT, and administration teams to ensure seamless operations, sharing of knowledge, and innovative problem-solving.
- Monitor team performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives, providing ongoing feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with the VP of People & Culture to drive initiatives that foster a culture of growth, inclusion, and operational excellence, ensuring people strategies support Amii’s financial and strategic goals.
- Extensive Financial Leadership Experience: 10-15 years of senior financial leadership experience, ideally in technology, AI, or mission-driven organizations.
- Strategic Partnership: Proven experience as a strategic partner to CEOs and executive teams.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Expertise in developing risk management frameworks and ensuring organizational compliance.
- Board Engagement & Governance: Experience presenting to Boards of Directors and supporting governance processes.
- Operational Leadership: Experience leading finance, IT, and administrative functions, with a focus on driving operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
- Strategic thinking and strong business acumen.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
- Strong negotiation skills with external stakeholders.
- Adaptability and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
