Community & Donor Engagement Coordinator

Job Overview: Reporting to the Director of Fund Development, the Community & Donor Engagement Coordinator manages and coordinates all community engagement opportunities, such as 3rd party fund raising, social service clubs/groups, and corporate giving and volunteering. These opportunities will support The Alex Community Health Centre’s strategic priorities by raising both awareness and funds for programs and services. The Community Engagement Coordinator works collaboratively with the Fund Development, Communication and Program Teams. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and grow the third-party and community engagement by seeking activities, events, and opportunities within the community to raise awareness and revenue for The Alex; implement both a communication plan and stewardship program for these opportunities.
  • Manage and grow service club/group engagement as well as corporate giving and volunteering by seeking activities, events, and opportunities to raise awareness and revenue for The Alex; implement both a communication plan and stewardship program for these opportunities.
  • Represent The Alex and/or coordinate staff and volunteers to represent The Alex at various events within the community, helping to promote the organization’s mission, programs, and services to the public.
  • Coordinate all event and activity logistics such as maintaining event calendar, developing briefing notes, preparation of event collateral, scheduling staff and volunteers, as needed for third-party and community engagement activities.
  • Respond to all internal and external inquiries regarding third-party and community fundraising opportunities.
  • Support the communications and fund development teams with events and activities such as tours, donor stewardship events, cheque presentations etc.; provide general support, when needed.
  • Manage a portfolio of 3rd party events, social service clubs/groups, and corporations that are at various levels of engagement.
  • Analyze and report on KPI’s for third-party and community fundraising in alignment with the Fund Development Plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Relevant University degree or College diploma; related work experience may be considered in lieu.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in a fundraising, community engagement or communication setting; previous experience in the non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Experience with fundraising software, Donor Perfect, is preferable.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to balance multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional computer and software skills, with experience working in MS Teams and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, creatively and with initiative.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Professionalism and tact in handling highly sensitive and confidential information ethically and with discretion.
  • Class 5 driver’s license, personal vehicle for business use, clean 3-year drivers abstract.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action.
Work Environment and Hours:
  • The Alex Community Health Centre: 2840-2 Ave SE, Calgary.
  • 1.0 FTE (37.5 hrs/wk)
  • Standard hours 8:30 – 4:30, Monday to Friday.
  • Continuous periods of sitting, with some standing and walking (sometimes up/down stairwells).
  • Occasional driving is required as part of work duties.
Driving on behalf of The Alex:
This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for work-related purposes. Candidates must show proof of a class 5 driver's license, a personal vehicle, and a clean 3-year drivers abstract. Candidates must also consent to the possibility of an annual driver's abstract review to meet our insurance provider’s requirements. Mileage will be reimbursed in alignment with the CRA guidelines.
