Content Marketing Specialist

About the Opportunity
SSI is seeking a full-time Content Marketing Specialist for our Victoria, BC location who will be responsible for planning and delivering marketing content for SSI. This includes short-form, long-form, email, social, PR, event, digital, and print communications. This role ideates, plans, and executes content that resonates with our target audience of ship designers, builders, and operators to drive traffic, engagement, and conversions. The Content Marketing Specialist embraces and evolves SSI’s voice and messaging to create best-in-class content. Simultaneously, this role works to ensure the content SSI creates reaches our audience in the right format, at the right time in their buyer’s journey.


This position allows for fully remote, hybrid or full in-office opportunity for the successful candidate. While flexible work hours are available, in order to participate in prescheduled meetings, the successful candidate’s 8-hour work day must overlap with current key marketing operations hours of Monday to Friday - 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM PST.

As the Content Marketing Specialist, you will be responsible for the following:


  • Serve as lead writer/editor for all SSI generated content.
  • Create a content plan to address the buyer’s journey and our marketing strategy, ensuring the content is aligned to what our clients and prospects need at each stage.
  • Based on SSI’s strategic marketing goals, independently develop client and prospect-relevant content for external and internal channels.
  • Produce high-quality, engaging, and informative content, including blog posts, articles, whitepapers, e Books, case studies, infographics, video scripts, emails, website copy, and social media posts.
  • Work with SMEs to distill technical subjects into strategic written content.
  • Collaborate with external contractors and clients to develop written content.
  • Collaborate with designers, content producers, and third-party contractors to produce multimedia content.
  • Collaborate with marketing teammates to identify, implement, and assess content distribution strategies.
  • Leverage results, analytics, and industry insights for decision-making, including content optimization and new concept development.
  • Understand the generative AI landscape and identify opportunities when to use, and not use, AI in content strategy and production.
  • Ensure all content is consistent with brand voice, style and tone.
  • Maintain and update content guidelines and best practices.
  • Optimize content for SEO to increase organic search visibility.
  • Stay up to date on content marketing best practices and technologies.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience driving business impact through content and digital marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience applying storytelling best practices to marketing content.
  • Highly proficient in written and verbal English, with clear and persuasive communication skills.
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills.


Nice-to-have skills or experience:
  • Experience with the following platforms: Linked In, You Tube, Word Press or other CMS, Marketing Automation Platforms.
  • Experience with the following tools: Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Dynamics or other CRM systems.
  • Portfolio of marketing content candidate contributed to.
  • Recognized as a self-starter with a bias for action.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset approach
  • Deep understanding of content disciplines, including SEO, content strategy, and execution.
  • Experience with marketing for B2B Saa S or Enterprise software organizations.
  • Experience within the shipbuilding, marine, engineering, or industrial technology industries.
